Title

Class will meet every Sunday 10am-1pm for 8 weeks starting Feb 8th. Registration includes 25lbs of clay, unlimited reclaim, 3 hours of studio access/week (open studio hours are 6am-12am 7 days a week), access to underglaze, glaze, and everything else you need to start (or continue) your ceramic journey.

Our small class sizes ensure personalized, one-on-one instruction as you master the foundational skills of the pottery wheel. The course will cover:

  • Clay Preparation: Learn the essential technique of wedging to remove air bubbles and achieve a uniform consistency.
  • Throwing Fundamentals: centering the clay and controlling the wheel to create foundational shapes.
  • Forming Techniques: Progress from simple forms like cylinders and bowls to more complex pieces such as mugs and small vases.
  • Trimming & Finishing: Learn how to trim the bottoms of your pieces and create pulled handles.
  • Surface Decoration & Glazing: Explore basic decoration and glazing techniques
  • Studio Procedures: Understand the full process, including the different stages of clay (wet, leather-hard, bone-dry), firing processes, and studio safety/cleanup protocols.

Each session will feature a demonstration followed by hands-on studio time with guidance from the instructor. By the end of the course, you can expect to complete and take home several finished, dishwasher and microwave-safe ceramic pieces.
