6 Week Intro to Hand Building Ceramics November 10th - December 15th
Join Laura for a 6 week intro to Hand Building Ceramics class! Class will meet every Tuesdays 5-8pm for 6 weeks starting November 10th. Registration includes 25lb bag of clay, unlimited reclaim, additional studio time during regular business hours (Tues-Saturday 12-6pm), access to underglaze, glaze, and everything else you need to start or continue your ceramic journey. Additional clay is available for purchase.
Discover the versatile art of hand-building in this comprehensive 6-week course, perfect for beginners and returning students. This class is designed to provide a strong foundation in creating functional and sculptural ceramic pieces without a potter's wheel.
Over six weeks, you will learn and practice fundamental techniques including:
- Pinching to create forms like bowls and cups.
- Slab construction to build geometric or architectural forms like plates, boxes, or tiles.
- Coiling building techniques to make bowls or pots
- Joining techniques to ensure structural integrity.
- Surface decoration methods such as texturing and underglaze transfers
- Glazing and firing basics to achieve a professional finish on your completed work.
Each session will feature a demonstration followed by hands-on studio time with guidance from the instructor.

- Materials: Includes one 25lb bag of clay with option to purchase additional bags of clay and all tools needed.
- What to Bring: Clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
